Make Your Kitchen The Coffee Shop Of Choice

Technology is a wonderful thing. It’s transformed our routines over the course of our lives from a world where we have to do everything ourselves, to the simplicity of having near robot assistants helping us to complete everything from repetitive mundane tasks to smart phones that help us to stay organised.

Kitchen tech is the latest craze to be sweeping the UK, and that’s what we’re all about at The Perfect Coffee. More specifically, we’re obsessed with the things that the latest coffee machines can do. We’ve come a long way since the adverts in the 80s with the waiter pretending to be a coffee percolator…

Joking aside, there’s no way that anyone can be conned into thinking instant coffee will match the quality of what a good home machine will do today – you just need to look at the bean to cup coffee machine reviews on the internet to see what a massive industry has sprung up, largely thanks to the likes of Starbucks and Costa Coffee outlets that people have integrated into their daily lives. It’s almost reached to point of addiction for some people, who are spending more on coffee on the way to work each month that they are on their sky TV subscription, house insurance, and in some cases even council tax!

It’s that huge spend that we believe is driving the popularity once more for home coffee makers, not for the same reason as we saw in decades gone by, but because it’s simply a lot cheaper (as the machine cost is a one off) to brew a coffee at home, and the quality is just as good, if not better if you really learn to master using the machines.

There are a few big players in the home coffee market, with the two biggest being Delonghi and Sage (known as Breville in the USA). On this site we’re going to introduce you to a few of the bast models (in our humble opinion), and hopefully you’ll follow our lead in avoiding stuffing the coffers of those big corporate coffee chains every morning, and getting to grips with making your own hot drinks instead!

Sage Home Coffee Makers

coffee cupSage are the choice of the household that like to have the best – they’ve got a number of machines available, like the Dual Boiler which will set you back around a thousand pounds. Unlike Delonghi, they’re not really aiming for the bargain hunter with any of their coffee makers, and that probably helps to explain why they’ve recruited Heston Blumenthal to front their range in the UK.

Here’s a look at one of their more popular machines, which, while around half the price of the Dual Boiler, is still one that looks quite expensive next to some other brand models:

While we really like the Sage range, they’re only likely to appeal to those with a good amount to spend, or to put it another way, those that like the best and are prepared to pay handsomely for it. In this case, you’re buying something that looks fairly stunning on the side in the kitchen, so if you like to show your friends who’s the coffee king or queen, take a closer look.

Delonghi Home Coffee Makers

cremaDelonghi are probably one of the most notable home coffee machine manufacturers, with a huge range of the most popular bean-to-cup makers. They call them ESAMs and ECAMs followed by all sorts of numbers that won’t mean a great deal to you unless you really do your research.

Here’s a quick look at one of the best sellers from their range, which naturally appeals to many buyers because it’s got a very low price tag compared to most professional grade makers:

As with most big purchases, the devil is in the detail, so be sure to look at plenty of reviews and customer opinions, as they all target a different type of coffee drinker. For example, cappuccino fans will likely choose a very different machine to those who prefer an espresso hit in the morning.
